European Advisory Committee
The European Advisory Committee oversees IAGA's initiatives and progress within the region to: 

  • Help grow IAGA’s regional membership by identifying new members for each of our advisory segments (legal, advisory, financial, operational, manufacturing, regulatory)
  • Help secure annual and regional event sponsorships that support our members in the region
  • Support the region's unique interests and needs by identifying timely topics for discussion that can be discussed on webinars, in media editorial and at IAGA supported conferences 
  • Drive other initiatives and member participation in the region and advise on our support of regional trade show conferences

The European Advisory Committee is chaired by former IAGA President Julian Harris. 


alt           JULIAN HARRIS is recognized as a leading expert in national and international gambling and licensing law, and is highly regarded by both operators and regulators throughout the world. He and John Hagan are the founder partners of Harris Hagan, the first and only UK law firm specialising exclusively in legal services to the gambling and leisure industries.  He, John and other members of the firm have been at the forefront of those advising UK and international operators alike on the opportunities presented by the UK Government’s major reform of gambling law.

SANTIAGO ASENSI  is the Managing Partner of ASENSI and is an expert attorney in Gaming & Gambling Law in Spain and Latin America. Asensi represents most of the major operators and gaming services providers, being deeply involved in all the regulatory developments carried out for this industry. Santiago is included in the Global Gaming & Gambling section of the leading publication Chambers Global. Asensi has been awarded this prestigious inclusion within “Band 1” from 2009 to 2013, and in the editions 2014, 2015 & 2016, Santiago has been ranked as “Star Individual. 

alt           JAMES ELLIOTT is the General Counsel of NetEnt, the premium B2B supplier of digitally distributed casino systems and games where he heads up the global legal function. Prior to joining NetEnt in 2014, James was Director of Legal Affairs of the FTSE listed bwin.party digital entertainment plc (previously PartyGaming Plc) where he served for 9 years in the the in-house legal team. During his time at bwin.party James was involved in the acquisition of Empire Poker, FoxyBingo, Gamebookers, World Poker Tour and in the merger between bwin and PartyGaming. James advises on a wide range of areas including software licensing, marketing and sponsorship, regulatory affairs, intellectual property, technology and e-commerce.

JUSTIN FRANSSEN is an attorney at law and partner at Kalff Katz & Franssen, where he leads the Gaming Practice. His advisory and litigation practice regularly deals with sector-specific acquisitions and complex public affairs processes. Prior to his admission to the Dutch Bar, Justin acted as general counsel for a gaming developer in Amsterdam and New York. His career as an attorney began at an associate firm of KPMG, where he founded their European Gaming & Entertainment Services Group. He subsequently spent 12 years as head of the Gaming, Sports & Entertainment practice group at a medium-sized law firm in Amsterdam.

DR. WULF HAMBACH is one of the founding partners of Hambach & Hambach. He regularly publishes articles in national and international legal media and is a co-publisher and one of the authors of the legal commentary Gambling and Sweepstakes Law in the Media. A sought-after lecturer at  international conferences and board adviser of leading internet service companies, Hambach was honoured by Chambers and Partners and ranked by WHO’s WHO LEGAL. Dr. Hambach is one of the founders of the European portal Gaminglaw.eu, a member of IAGA and General Member of IMGL. He is also board member of the German Association for Telecommunication and Media (DVTM).
